x+y...

Kolmapäeval, 11. oktoobril kell 18 avab Alar Tuul oma isiknäituse „x+y...“ Vaal galeriis. Näitus jääb avatuks kuni 4. novembrini, T–R 12–18, L 12–16.

„x+y...“ esindab ümbritsevat muutuvat maailma, mis mõjutab pidevalt meie mõtteid ja ideid. Kunstnik möönab: “Korduvalt proovisin suruda teemat, millest kinni olin võtnud, kindlasse formaati. Paraku pole see võimalik.” Nii mõnigi mõttekild või kujutis maalil viib mujale. Fragmentide segadus muutis lahenduste käike. Algimpulss kaotas mõtte. See on nagu suur lõuend, mida me täidame oma lugude ja kogemustega, kuid mida rohkem püüame seda kindlasse struktuuri organiseerida, seda enam see meie haardest väljub. Konkreetsete mõtete tabamine ja registreerimine polnud enam eesmärk – maastik x haaras. Probleem x+y = lahendus 2x+2y.

Võrrandi x+y=2x+2y kontekstis on maastik x tundmatud muutujad ja tegurid. Sageli need nähtamatud ja ootamatud elemendid võivad arutelu tulemust muuta. See õpetab meid olema kohanemisvõimeline ja avatud muutustele, võtma omaks ebakindluse ja uurima erinevaid teid eesmärgini jõudmiseks. Seda tehes saame laiendada oma loomingulist silmaringi ja avastada probleemidele uusi lahendusi.

Kirjutis valmis kunstniku ja AI koostöös.

Alar Tuul (s 1982) on Eesti noorte autorite seas üks äratuntavama ja eripärasema käekirjaga kunstnikke. Ta on lõpetanud Tartu Kõrgema Kunstikooli maali ja maalingute osakonna ning Tartu Ülikooli maaliosakonna magistriõppe. Alates 2011. aastast on tal toimunud arvukaid isiknäitusi üle Eesti, sealhulgas Tartu Kunstimajas (2021), Kondase Keskuses (2017), Tartu Kunstimuuseumis (2013) ja Haapsalu Linnagaleriis (2013).

x+y...

On Wednesday, 11th of October at 6 pm Alar Tuul will open his solo exhibition titled "x+y..." at Vaal Gallery. The exhibition will remain open until 4th of November Tue–Fri 12–6 pm, Sat 12–4 pm.

"x+y..." represents the rapidly changing world around us, which constantly influences our thoughts and ideas. The artist admits: "I repeatedly tried to force the captured topic into a fixed format. Unfortunately, this is not possible." Some of the thoughts or shapes in the painting lead elsewhere. The chaos of fragments altered the course of solutions. The original impulse lost its meaning. It's like a big canvas that we fill with our stories and experiences, but the more we try to organise it into a definite structure, the more it slips out of our grasp. Capturing specific thoughts and registering them was no longer the goal - the landscape x took it over. Problem x+y = was solved as 2x+2y.

In the context of the equation x+y=2x+2y, landscape x is unknown variables and factors. Often these invisible and unexpected elements can change the outcome of a discussion. It teaches us to be adaptable and open to change, to embrace uncertainty and to explore various paths to reach a goal. In doing so, we can broaden our creative horizons and discover new solutions to problems.

Alar Tuul (b. 1982) is one of the young Estonian artists with the most recognisable and unique style. He graduated from the painting department of Pallas University of Applied Sciences and holds a Master's degree in painting from the University of Tartu. Since 2011, he has had numerous solo exhibitions across Estonia, including at Tartu Art House (2021), Kondas Centre (2017), Tartu Art Museum (2013) and Haapsalu City Gallery (2013).
